Juan Carlos Castillo is a Senior Partner at Aguilar Castillo Love, specializing in Corporate M&A, Dispute Resolution, Finance, Infrastructure, Energy and Natural Resources, and International Trade and Investment. With extensive expertise in both legal practice and business, Juan Carlos has been instrumental in driving the success of numerous high-profile projects across Latin America. He earned his law degree magna cum laude from Universidad Francisco Marroquin (1991) and completed an LL.M. at Harvard University, Law School (1991). He is also an accomplished author, having written “Judicial Independence in Guatemala, A Critical Analysis” during his time at Harvard Law School. Juan Carlos has held several leadership roles, including serving as the President of the Guatemalan Stock Exchange Market from 1999 to 2007 and as a Professor of Public International Law at Universidad Francisco Marroquin since 1993. His extensive experience includes advising the Guatemalan Government on the privatization of electric generation and distribution companies in 1996, and on the privatization of Guatemala’s ports and airports in 1998.
