Our heritage

A Legacy Forged Over Centuries

Since the 1820s, our legacy has intertwined with the development of Central America. Manuel Aguilar Chacón, founder of Costa Rica’s first law firm, established a tradition of full-service legal counsel, serving the region’s most prominent figures and businesses. His cross-border vision and commitment to regional integration laid the groundwork for our firm’s expansive outlook today.

The Castillo family’s heritage is equally notable. Its lineage includes Bernal Diaz del Castillo, a founder of Guatemala and acclaimed chronicler of the Spanish conquest. In 1876, two Castillo brothers founded Cerveceria Centroamericana, a brewery that has become an integral part of Guatemala’s identity and a testament to the family’s enduring legacy in the region.

Timeless Values, Modern Expertise

Our heritage is not merely a matter of history. It is the foundation upon which we build our present and future. We draw upon the legacy of our founders, their vision, and their commitment to excellence. This rich heritage informs our decision-making, guides our actions, and shapes our perspective on the legal challenges and opportunities in Latin America.

We are not simply “loophole finders.” We are guarantors of the law, instruments for business integrity. We believe that doing what is right is not only ethically sound but also strategically advantageous. In a world often characterized by uncertainty and volatility, our clients value the stability and security that come from partnering with a firm deeply rooted in the legal and cultural landscape of Latin America.
