Esteban Agüero Guier
Esteban, serves as Managing Partner of Aguilar Castillo Love in El Salvador and as a Partner in Costa Rica. He is a distinguished legal expert with more than two decades of experience specializing in Corporate M&A, Antitrust and Competition, Dispute Resolution, Infrastructure, Energy, and Natural Resources, and Regulatory and Compliance. Esteban provides strategic counsel to multinational corporations and financial institutions on high-stakes cross-border transactions, regulatory compliance, and international trade.
A prominent figure in international trade law, Esteban has an extensive background in government roles, including serving as Director of the DR-CAFTA Administration Unit and the International Dispute Resolution Unit at Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Trade. He also acted as a key negotiator for the European Union-Central America Association Agreement and the DR-CAFTA Dispute Resolution and Institutional Provisions Chapters.
Esteban holds an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, a Certificate in International Economic Relations from Universitat de Barcelona, and a Licentiate in Law from Universidad de Costa Rica. He is also a Fellow of Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law, where he collaborated with the renowned Professor John H. Jackson. Esteban has shared his expertise as a Professor of International Trade Law at the Universidad de Costa Rica since 2004.
